There used to be a proliferation of prostitutes and strip clubs in the infamous
MH Del Pilar St in Ermita (Firehouse, Blue Hawaii, New Bangkok, Australian Club Manila, Kangaroo Club, Rollers, Bubbles, Superstar, Pitstop are a few famous examples).
Former mayor of Manila Alfredo Lim cleaned up this area by closing them one by one.
Around seven years ago some later reopened in nearby Roxas Blvd and EDSA.
